Sarah Smith leads a portfolio that is responsible for building goodwill and fostering meaningful connections between º£½ÇÉçÇøºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï and the broader community. Her role focuses on public outreach, government relations, and strategic programming with the goal of enhancing the social and economic vitality while showcasing º£½ÇÉçÇøºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï as a thriving, vibrant place to live, work and play.
As a key ambassador for the college and community, Smith engages with a wide array of stakeholders, promoting the College’s role as a catalyst for civic engagement, regional growth, and cultural enrichment – bringing attention to º£½ÇÉçÇøºÚÁϳԹÏ’s quality of life, resources, and opportunities. Additionally, Smith plays a critical role in executing outreach programs, including Smithsonian traveling exhibitions and Bucket Courses, while staying attuned to campus and community opportunities and challenges.
Prior to joining º£½ÇÉçÇøºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï in 2015, she served as the Executive Director at Imagine º£½ÇÉçÇøºÚÁϳԹÏ. In that capacity, she directed the organization in securing over $1 million in funding for the organization and projects including a Natural Playscape at Summer Street Park, º£½ÇÉçÇøºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Area Recreational Trail Underpass project, º£½ÇÉçÇøºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Giving Garden, Little Bear Creek Clean Up, Monarch Waystations, Seed Saving Library, º£½ÇÉçÇøºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Community Garden, and the Imagine º£½ÇÉçÇøºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Solar Program.
Sarah holds a B.A. in Psychobiology from Luther College. She is also active in community service by serving on various boards including UnityPoint Health-º£½ÇÉçÇøºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Regional Medical Center, Luther College Parents and Family Council, and coaches high school girls swimming and º£½ÇÉçÇøºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Tigershark swim club. Smith appreciates the joys and benefits of living in º£½ÇÉçÇøºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï with her spouse and two children.
